Objectives :

   	
      *  To liberate women from the clutches of bondage
         and exploitation.   

      *  To educate and motivate women through    
         leadership training camps in order to 
         utilize their potential to create a new
         society free of exploitation.

      *  To Empower women at the micro level, 
         to develop organised communities with 
         selfesteem,security and human dignity, 
         the landless poor through mobilisation 
         of human resources,social awareness and 
         by increasing the accessibility of people 
	   to government programmes on poverty 
         eradication.

      *  To facilitate the women for social education,   
         development through solidarity, net working, 
         documentation and by organising rallies and  
         seminars.

      *  To give health and hygiene education to the  
         students in the villages and to create a sense 
         of health and hygiene among the women in the
         villages.

      *  To provide safe and protected drinking water 
         to the villages by putting up borewells. 
                      
Programmes  :  

     The Integrated Women Development Institute in order     
     to help the women in the villages of Tiruvallur 
     and Chennai districts to regain their status in 
     the society and to maintain self dignity operates 
     the following programmes.  	 


       *  Formation of women sangams in 
          the villages.

       *  Implementing government programmes 
          for poverty alevation.

       *  Organising women in urban slums.
       *  Organising small savings schemes 
          - micro credit programme.

       *  Organising leadership training 
          for women. 

       *  Skills development and income  
          generation programmes.

       *  Providing low cost toilet   
          facilities to all the houses 
          and schools in the project area.    

       *  Providing safe and protected
          drinking water by erecting borewells   
          in all the villages and schools of 
          the project area.
						
       *  Organising seminars and workshops 
          for women.

       *  Organising cultural programmes and 
          training for women.

       *  Running creches for children. 
 
       *  Forming of Self Help Groups.
